David's answer to the ready-to-drink shake: 30g of protein in 150 calories, under 1g of sugar, 6g of carbs, 2g of fat. That's roughly 80% of calories coming from protein, which is the number David built the whole brand around. The protein is ultra-filtered skim milk, not whey isolate, and that's why it drinks like an actual milkshake instead of a thin protein water. Lactose-free, gluten-free, shelf stable before opening. Third-party tested by Light Labs, 60 of 60 tests passed. Chocolate is cocoa-forward and velvety. Vanilla is the smoother, cleaner option. Sold by the case of 12.

Ultra-Filtered Milk, Not Whey Isolate

Nearly every RTD on the shelf runs on whey isolate or milk protein concentrate. David uses ultra-filtered skim milk, which concentrates the protein and strips most of the sugar while keeping the body and mouthfeel of real milk. Then they add lactase enzyme to break down what lactose remains, so it ends up lactose-free without going dairy-free. If whey shakes leave you bloated, this is a different protein source entirely.

EPG: The Reason It Tastes Like a Milkshake

This is the part worth understanding. EPG is a modified plant fat engineered to deliver the mouthfeel of fat with a fraction of the calories. It's the same technology behind David's bars. In a shake, fat is what makes something feel creamy rather than watery, and it's also where the calories hide. EPG lets David keep the texture at 2g of fat and 150 calories. That's the trade most RTDs can't make, and it's why reviewers consistently single out the thickness and the absence of aftertaste.

80% of Calories From Protein

30g of protein at 4 calories per gram is 120 calories against 150 total. Most RTD shakes land between 50% and 65%. At 80%, almost everything in the bottle is doing the job you bought it for. A comparable 30g shake typically runs 160 to 250 calories.

Drink It Cold

These ship and store shelf stable, so you can keep a case in the pantry. But chilled is where it actually delivers. Room temperature protein shakes always taste thinner and flatter. Keep a few in the fridge and rotate from the case.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Does it need refrigeration?
Not before opening. It's shelf stable, best stored somewhere cool and dark. Once opened, seal and refrigerate. Drink it cold either way.

  2. Is it really lactose free?
Yes. Ultra-filtration removes most of it, and lactase enzyme breaks down the rest. It still contains milk protein, so it isn't suitable for a milk allergy.

  3. What's the difference between Chocolate and Vanilla?
Chocolate uses dutch process cocoa and runs rich and cocoa-forward. Vanilla is cleaner and smoother. Same macros.

  4. Is it kosher?
    No.

How to Enjoy

Shake well and drink cold. Works post-workout, as a breakfast you can carry, or between meals. Store unopened bottles in a cool dark place. Refrigerate after opening. Use as a food supplement only, not for weight reduction. Contains Milk. Keep out of reach of children.
