Trimethylglycine (TMG), also known as betaine anhydrous, is a methyl donor: it supplies the methyl groups the body uses to convert homocysteine into the amino acid methionine. TMG works alongside other methyl donors such as choline, folate and vitamin B12, and it is also a precursor in carnitine synthesis.†
