EAAs, BCAAs, glutamine, citrulline, beta-alanine, taurine, carnitine, and single-ingredient aminos. Whether you want a full intra-workout formula or a raw powder to build your own stack, it is here.

    EAAs or BCAAs

This is the question we get most, and the answer has shifted. BCAAs give you three of the nine essential amino acids: leucine, isoleucine, and valine. Leucine triggers muscle protein synthesis, but triggering it is not the same as fueling it. Without the other six EAAs present, your body has an incomplete set of building blocks to actually construct muscle tissue.

EAAs give you all nine, including the BCAAs. For most people, EAAs are the better buy. BCAAs still have their place, particularly if you are already hitting high daily protein and just want intra-workout leucine, but if you are choosing one, choose EAAs.

    What Each Amino Actually Does

    • EAAs supply all nine essential amino acids for complete muscle protein synthesis support.
    • BCAAs deliver leucine, isoleucine, and valine, typically in a 2:1:1 ratio.
    • L-Glutamine supports recovery, immune function, and gut lining integrity. It is the most abundant amino acid in muscle tissue.
    • L-Citrulline converts to arginine and drives nitric oxide for blood flow and pumps. The backbone of nearly every pump formula.
    • Beta-Alanine buffers acid buildup to delay fatigue. Works through daily saturation, not acutely, and causes harmless tingling.
    • Taurine supports cellular hydration, endurance, and works well alongside caffeine.
    • L-Carnitine and Acetyl L-Carnitine shuttle fatty acids into mitochondria for energy. ALCAR also crosses the blood-brain barrier for cognitive support.
    • L-Tyrosine is the precursor to dopamine and norepinephrine, used for focus under stress.

    Do You Even Need Them?

Straight answer: if you already hit your daily protein target from whole food and protein powder, you are getting all of these aminos. Amino supplements are about timing, convenience, and specific doses that are hard to reach through food, not about filling a gap that protein already covers. Where they genuinely earn their place is intra-workout hydration and flavor that makes you actually drink water during a session, training fasted, and single ingredients like citrulline or beta-alanine at doses food will never deliver.
